Kristen Martin
Private Voice Teacher
Kristen Martin is a classically-trained singer and pianist with a Bachelor of Music Education degree in vocal music from Centenary College of Louisiana, and a Master of Educational Administration degree from LSU. She has experience in music theater (performing and music directing), opera, recording studios, television, contemporary Christian, praise and worship, accompanying, and church music. She has performed with the Fort Worth Opera, Lyric Stage, Regal Opera Company, Watertower Theatre, Continental Singers tour, and many local theaters. She served seven years on the board of directors as Audition Chair for the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), and she is currently the webmaster. She is also a member of Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) as the publications chair and on their scholarship committee, and Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA). She has been a choir director in public schools in Louisiana and Texas and worked as a private teacher for 30 years. Nick Powers
Private Voice Teacher
Nick Powers is thrilled to be teaching voice at Argyle High School as well as
R. L. Turner High School, Wylie East High School, and Forestwood Middle School. He received his Bachelor of Music Education at the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music in Berea, Ohio. There, he was the president of their American Choral Directors Association chapter and their Ohio Collegiate Music Educators Association chapter. Under his leadership, their chapter received national recognition by NAfME for recruitment and service in the 2010 – 2011 school year.
Nick was a choral director for 12 years at the middle school and high school levels. Most recently, he was the director at Lake Brantley High School in Altamonte Springs, FL. There, his choirs consistently received Superior and Superior with Distinction ratings at festivals. The Lake Brantley program was selected to be an Honor Choir at the Walt Disney World Candlelight Processional. His a cappella group, ForteFy, placed first in the International Competition for High School A Cappella quarterfinal in 2021. At Lake Brantley, Nick mentored six music education student teachers.
Nick is an active adjudicator for Solo and Ensemble Adjudication Events, choral festivals, and contemporary a cappella competitions. He has conducted both middle school and high school all-county honor choirs in Florida. He was a soloist and section leader at the Naples United Church of Christ for twelve years and currently is a section leader at the First Presbyterian Church Dallas. He has coordinated several honor choirs, including the 6-9 Tenor Bass Florida ACDA Honor Choir. He sang with the Festival Singers of Florida for 10 years and served as the bass section leader and secretary for the executive board. Nick has presented at the Florida Music Education Association Conference in Tampa, Florida. He is currently the Honor Choir Manager for the National A Cappella Convention and the Front of House Manager for Acatex.
